AlaskaOne television viewers will see some new shows and new times in the programming lineup starting July 1.
The change will mostly affect children’s programming. It will mean the addition of several shows, including "Angelina Ballerina," "It’s a Big, Big World," and "Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman," as well as time changes for several programs during the day and the elimination of others. The Sunday schedule will also change slightly, with the addition of Bill Moyers’ "Journal" at 11 a.m. "Nova" will also move into the 3 p.m. slot on Sundays. A complete version of the new schedule is available online at http://www.alaskaone.org/aprograms.html.
The scheduling changes come as a result of budget reductions at the station and the accompanying smaller staff. In the past, station engineers taped programs and created a schedule specifically tailored to the communities AlaskaOne serves. The station no longer has the staffing to do that and will be relying on direct satellite feeds for much of the lineup.
