UAF to host national intelligence colloquium

The U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a two-day colloquium on national intelligence issues Oct. 14-15 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Room 109 of the Butrovich Building on the UAF campus. A roundtable discussion and reception, "Information Needs in a Changing Arctic," will also be held Oct. 14 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the Princess Hotel.

The conference will offer an overview of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Office of the Intelligence Community Centers of Academic Excellence. There will also be discussion panels on navigation routes, resource development and other political issues in the Arctic; cybersecurity issues and UAF’s unique computing facilities; and Alaska Natives, diversity and UAF’s role in northern studies and national intelligence.

According to conference organizers, another purpose of the conference is to evaluate UAF as a potential National Intelligence Center of Academic Excellence. The conference will also provide opportunities for UAF students to pursue potential job opportunities in national intelligence.
