Wine tasting and dinner set to benefit Alaska Nanooks.

The Alaska Nanooks will host their second annual Winter Wonderland of Wines dinner and tasting Friday, Feb. 26 at the Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge. All proceeds from both events will directly benefit the Alaska Nanooks’ 10 varsity programs.

The dinner portion of the evening features a five-course gourmet meal that begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Townshend Wines will provide an accompanying wine choice with each course. Reservations for the dinner are required and may be made at the UAF Ticket Office or by calling 474-5977. The deadline to purchase tickets or make a reservation for the five-course wine dinner is Thursday, February 25.

The wine tasting follows the dinner from 7-9 p.m. and features a variety of wines from Specialty Imports along with a selection of hors d’oeuvres. As an added bonus for those attending the wine tasting, the first game of the 2010 Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup series between the Alaska Nanooks and the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves will being broadcast live from Anchorage in the wine tasting room.

The cost to attend dinner, which includes admission to the wine tasting, is $100. Tickets for just the wine tasting are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Gavora’s Fine Wines on 3rd Street has tickets available for just the wine tasting, while tickets for both events and more information are available at the UAF Ticket Office or by calling 907-474-5977.
