The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a free public lecture, "The Rise of Israel: A History of a Revolutionary State," Wednesday, March 31st at 6 p.m. in Room 201 of the Reichardt Building on the UAF campus.

University of Denver professor Jonathan Adelman will speak about how Israel gained the strength to overcome great obstacles and become a serious regional power in the Middle East. He will give details on how the creation of Israel is different from that of most new states and how volunteer forces played a major role in its creation.
