InterPlay: Loose Minds in a Box
A collaborative work by professors Deal and Aoki involved a concert in which Deal played the marimba in front of a three-dimensional scene produced by Aoki. The concert took place in the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center’s Discovery Lab, on a 10-foot floor and in front of three 10-foot screens onto which the three-dimensional scene was projected. Aoki’s intention was to enhance Deal’s music to bring viewers into and experience the haunting, sometimes grey landscape of Fairbanks in winter.
