2021 Festival of Native Arts

The Festival of Native Arts will take place virtually Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27. Participants can engage in workshops during the day and watch performances via Facebook in the evening starting at 6 p.m.

Collective 49 will host a Festival of Native Arts collection of artwork and crafts on its website.

The virtual workshops feature a variety of themes and will be hosted over Zoom. Participants must register for each event they will attend.

March 26


  • 11 a.m.: Yatibaey Evans, Molly of Denali creative producer, will share a new episode and lead students in a craft and conversation.

  • 2 p..: Alaska Native Language Center and Alaska Native Knowledge Network virtual open house

  • 4 p.m.: Kathleen Meckel will host a beading skills workshop.

  • 6 p.m.: Online performances and speakers


March 27

  • 11 a.m.: George Holly will host a virtual Elders room and Sam Demientieff will share from his book, "Honoring the Past."

  • 2 p.m.: Amy Topkok share her research on the history of fancy skin sewing and lead participants in a skin sewing activity.

  • 6 p.m.: Online performances and speakers


The evening events on Facebook will include performances shared by artists and student and community speakers.
