The Northern Gulf of Alaska Long Term Ecological Research project — or NGA LTER —  invites undergraduate students to participate in its interdisciplinary program.


The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.

In 2021, there are two research experience for undergraduates, or REUs:




  • Ocean Sciences REU  — Open to any undergraduate with interest in marine science, biology, chemistry or physics

  • Alaska Native REU — Open to undergraduates with Alaska Native heritage who are interested in the oceanography of the Gulf of Alaska or promoting partnership with other disciplines. This includes but is not limited to students with interest in visual arts, music, education, engineering, communication or science.


Funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation provides participant financial support, including a $5,760 stipend.
