Small business workshops offered

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a series of eight small business workshops
in Fairbanks and by videoconference in Anchorage and Delta Junction, beginning Jan.
28.
The UAF Cooperative Extension Service and the UAF Community and Technical College
will host the series, which is also offered by webinar around the state. Workshops
will meet Thursdays or Saturdays, through March 19, at the UAF Community and Technical
College at 604 Barnette St. Videoconference locations include the Anchorage district
Extension office at 1675 C St. and the Delta Career Advancement Center in Delta Junction.
The workshops provide guidance to small business owners in keeping records, calculating
taxes, writing a business plan and using social media. Topics and workshop dates include:
- Jan. 28, Record keeping and taxes for agricultural businesses, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Feb. 2, Taxation for small businesses, noon to 2 p.m.
- Feb. 11, Starting a small business, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Feb. 18, Writing a business plan, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Feb. 25, Record keeping and taxes for artists and artisans, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- March 12, Beginning social media and mobile marketing, 10 a.m. to noon
- March 19, Intermediate social media and mobile marketing, 10 a.m. to noon
- March 19, How to develop ideas into businesses, 1-3 p.m.
