Seminar to examine TV broadcasters' climate communications
January 18, 2017
Television weathercasters have a unique and powerful position in cultural conversations about climate change, visiting research scholar Kristin Timm will suggest at an International Arctic Research Center seminar Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Timm, a graduate research assistant on the Climate Matters project and a Ph.D. student in science communication at George Mason University, will discuss her presentation "Climate Matters: A Comprehensive Educational Resource Program for Broadcast Meteorologists."
The seminar will run from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in 401 Akasofu (IARC), on UAF's West Ridge.
Timm will review the theoretical basis of George Mason's Climate Matters climate communications program, detail its development and national scale-up, and conclude with discussions about developing communication initiatives for people in other climate-related work.
