Ocean initiative director to discuss Alaska's 'blue economy' Feb. 1

The Alaska Ocean Cluster Initiative's director will discuss opportunities in Alaska's
ocean-related economy from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the BP Design Theater
in the Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility at UAF.
Joel Cladouhos, AOCI's Anchorage-based director, will describe how academic researchers
are collaborating with industry to develop more sustainable, value-added elements
in Alaska’s "blue economy."
The Alaska Ocean Cluster Initiative, recently launched by the Bering Sea Fishermen's Association, strives to unite industry,
academia, nonprofits and government agencies to grow ocean-related industries.
This event is hosted by the UAF Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization
and its new center, the Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship.
