June 16, 2011

The Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy offers monthly statewide climate webinars that are designed to promote dialogue between scientists and people in government, land and resource management, industry, and individual residents who need information related to climate change in Alaska to make well-informed decisions. Each webinar will start with 20 – 30 minutes of presentation followed by discussion and questions from participants.

The next ACCAP webinar will be Climate Change In Alaska: From Weather to Whether, with James Partain, NOAA Alaska Region climate services director. This webinar will highlight many of the impacts of climate change on Alaska's weather, which span the range of environmental impacts from aviation to volcanic ash and everything in between. It will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, on the second floor of the Denali Building, 3352 College Rd., in Fairbanks. Instructions to participate remotely are online.

The satellite viewing locations include the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward and the Islands and Oceans Center in Homer. Contact Brook Gamble at 474-7812 for room details and let us know if your organization would like to host a satellite viewing site.
