The University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Alaska Center for Energy and Power will hold a grand opening ceremony for its Energy Technology Facility lab modules Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
This new facility will allow ACEP to play an expanded role in Alaska’s energy future. Housing three established test beds, the facility represents an opportunity for UAF to partner with industry and agencies to develop solutions for the state and beyond.
The centerpiece of the project is the Hybrid Application Laboratory, which mimics the electrical grid and distribution system of a small rural community. The module will allow testing of both entire systems and individual components. It will help optimize existing systems and improve the performance of future installations.
The facility also includes a diesel engine test bed and support for a new Hydrokinetic Energy Research Bay, which is located in Nenana.
The new facility is located across from Lola Tilly Commons on the UAF campus. Parking is available at the Nenana Lot.
