ACPE to visit UAF

July 30, 2013

Cornerstone

College and career guides from the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education, including the ACPE program manager and program coordinator, will be on campus Aug. 5 for an all-day, in-depth campus visit. The guides will meet with different UAF schools and colleges to discuss the various degree programs, become familiar with UAF institutional knowledge, receive a personalized campus tour, learn about campus life/events, understand UAF programs/initiatives and enjoy a lunch.

ACPE's college and career guides are recent college graduates hired by ACPE every two years and placed in various high schools throughout the state of Alaska. This program provides mentorship, creates a college going culture and assists students in the college application and selection process. The guides serve as liaisons between Alaska high schools and University of Alaska campuses to stimulate and promote the culture of a college/university environment and provide high school students with information about UA scholarships, financial aid and the value of attaining a post-secondary education. As a part of their training they spend one day on each of the MAU's campuses.
