Adams sets 200-fly pool record, swimming gets past CBU, 113-92

The Nanooks took the meet by an identical score from Friday night after claiming both relays and six individual events, highlighted by a pool record in the 200 yard butterfly.
Adams, who was swimming the 200 fly for the first time, completed the race with a time of two minutes, 8.51 seconds, besting Simon Fraser's Gia Bogetti's 2008 record of 2:08.57.
She was also part of both winning relays for the Nanooks as the tandem of sophomore Gabi Summers, freshman Eileen Audette, Adams and junior Bente Heller took the 200 medley relay in 1:51.59. To cap off the meet, the foursome consisting of sophomore Danielle Lyons, Adams, sophomore Kendra Ashwell and sophomore Genevieve Johnson completed the 400 free relay with a time of 3:45.07.
Summers and Heller each won a pair of individual races while Lyons won a single race for Alaska. The team also turned in one runner-up finish and three third-place showings.
Summers won the 200 free in 1:59.00 and the 500 free in 5:17.52, while Heller took first in the 50 free with a time of 24.60 seconds and the 100 free after she touched the wall in 52.75 seconds. Lyons had a strong second half of the 400 individual medley to take the race in 4:44.59.
Johnson was second to Heller in the 100 free with a time of 56.92 and third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.13 while sophomore Lauren Bailey placed third in the 1,650 free (18:47.24) and freshman Nina Mullin held the same position in the 400 IM (5:01.86).
CBU saw individual wins by Ashley Weedman, Hazel Castillo and Molly Larson. Weedman won the 1,650 with a time of 18:24.47 while also taking third in the 200 backstroke (2:20.63). Castillo claimed the 200 back in 2:17.83 and was second in the 200 fly (2:10.69). Larson won the last individual event, the 200 breast, in 2:32.07 to go with her runner-up showing in the 400 IM (4:48.19).
The Nanooks return to the pool Nov. 9-10 when they host PCSC foe Cal State East Bay. The meets begin at 6 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday and admission is free of charge for both sessions.
