Sophomore Margot Adams set a new pool record in the 200 butterfly but Cal State East Bay was too strong as it defeated Alaska 111-93 in women's swimming on Saturday afternoon at the Patty Center Pool.

The Pioneers (5-0) took five individual wins as well as seven runner-ups and six third-place showings to capture their second dual-meet win in as many days. The Nanooks (2-2) won both relays again Saturday and claimed four individual races. They also accrued two seconds and three thirds on the day.

Adams broke her own pool record in the 200 butterfly as she hit the wall in two minutes, 8.15 seconds, winning the race by nearly 12 seconds. She also was part of both winning relay tandems. First she swam the fly in the 200 medley relay consisting of junior Bente Heller (Hamburg, Germany/Communications), freshman Eileen Audette (Seward, Alaska/Fisheries) and sophomore Kelly Meierotto (North Pole, Alaska/Anthropology). That foursome completed the meet's opening race in 1:50.33.

To close out the meet, Adams and Meierotto, along with sophomores Danielle Lyons (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan/Biological sciences) and Gabi Summers (Cheyenne, Wyo./Wildlife Biology and Conservation) took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:40.98.

Heller also won two individual events as she captured the 50 free in 24.74 and later took the 100 free in 53 seconds flat. Summers won the 500 free with a time of 5:13.04 while also placing third in the 200 free (1:58.36).

For East Bay, Alyssa Tenney won a pair of races as she placed first in both the 400 individual medley (4:50.37) and the 200 backstroke (2:13.75). Other individual wins came from Rachel Shimizu in the 1,650 free (18:04.58), Jenel Lopez in the 200 free (1:56.71) and Makila Schuck in the 200 breaststroke (5:13.04.)

The Nanooks will have a few weeks to prepare for the 2012 Husky Invitational, which will be held Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 in Federal Way, Wash.
