Changes to advising, registration and class schedule publication

February 18, 2019

University Relations

The fall 2019 class schedule will be published on UAOnline and CourseFinder on Monday, March 25. The original publication schedule of March 18 was delayed to give departments time to finalize their schedules in light of the current budget situation. The delay reduces by one week the amount of advising time before registration opens, but will allow for a more accurate schedule.

The printed registration form that has been in UAOnline for UAF degree students is being retired; its last term in use is summer 2019. This form was built into the registration process some 20 years ago, when UA adopted Banner. Its purpose was solely to enforce UAF's mandatory advising requirement. Students would fill it out, have their advisor sign it and then turn it in to the Registrar's Office to be pinned. Pinning can now be done by faculty in UAOnline (see below) or by department admins in Banner.

All advisors now have access to set their students' pins for registration through UAOnline. Watch this short video that shows how.

For documentation/archival purposes, Nanook Navigator can be used to record which courses were discussed with your student by entering an advising appointment note. For more information on how to do that, or to schedule a training session with your department, please contact Ginny Kinne at 474-1942 or vrkinne@alaska.edu
