Alaska celebrates Geography Awareness Week

GeoFest, a free family educational event, will be held Saturday, Nov. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Effie Kokrine Charter School on Loftus Road in Fairbanks.
The event is part of Geography Awareness Week and is sponsored by the University of Alaska Geography Program and the Alaska Geographic Alliance.
Geography Awareness Week runs Nov. 14-20. Volunteers will visit local schools with educational activities and encourage teachers to include geography lessons at all grade levels. Visit www.mywonderfulworld.org for more geography awareness information.
