Alaska Food Festival to take place Nov. 6-7

The Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Extension is a co-sponsor and Cooperative Extension is a planning partner for the fifth semiannual conference, which is hosted by the Alaska Food Policy Council. The council is a nonprofit whose goal is to create a healthier, more secure and more self-reliant Alaska by improving our food system.
The two main themes for the conference are food entrepreneurship and rural and Indigenous food systems. The program includes presentations on food systems in Alaska, food security/insecurity, traditional foods, farmers markets, agriculture in Alaska, fisheries, food policy, food waste reduction and more.
