Biomedical research proposals sought from faculty

The Alaska IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence is accepting proposals for pilot research grants through Dec. 16 at 5 p.m.

AK INBRE provides awards for research projects in the biomedical and health sciences to UA faculty to improve their ability to win support for their research and graduate student training programs. Pilot research grants can support any topic in basic, translational or clinical biomedical research. However, priority is given to those that focus on AK INBRE's theme — connections between the environment, behavior, health and disease in people and animals in Alaska.

Proposals should also demonstrate how funding will expand the principal investigator’s professional development.

Additional funding is available for teams of biomedical or health researchers working across disciplines. Such teams are recommended when a project requires specialized knowledge or when a problem is beyond the scope of a single discipline.

The funding period for successful applicants runs from Aug. 1, 2017, to July 31, 2018.
