SWIMMING
LAST WEEK: Idle | THIS WEEK: at PCSC Championships (Feb. 13-16)
The Alaska Nanooks swim team will hit the road this week, as they prepare to compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference Championship Wednesday, Feb. 13, through Saturday, Feb. 16. The four-day meet will be hosted by Biola University at the Splash! Aquatic Center in La Mirada, California. Details regarding the 2019 PCSC Championships can be found here.


MEN’S BASKETBALL | 5-16, 2-12 GNAC
LAST WEEK: 0-2 | THIS WEEK: at Central Washington (Feb. 14), at Northwest Nazarene (Feb. 16)
The Nanooks dropped a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference contests at home last week, falling to Saint Martin’s (86-68) and Seattle Pacific (89-52). The Nooks will hit the road this week, taking on the Central Washington Wildcats on Thursday, Feb. 14, in Ellensburg, Washington, before taking on the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks on Saturday, Feb. 16, in Nampa, Idaho. Tip-off on Thursday is scheduled for 6 p.m. Alaska time, while Saturday is set for 5 p.m. Alaska time.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL | 3-17, 0-14 GNAC
LAST WEEK: 0-2 | THIS WEEK: vs. Western Oregon (Feb. 14), vs. Concordia (Feb. 16)
The Nanooks fell 88-43 to in-state rival Alaska Anchorage at home last Tuesday, before dropping Saturday’s road contest 84-65 to Montana State Billings. The Nanooks are home this week, hosting the Western Oregon Wolves on Thursday, Feb. 14, before taking on the Concordia Cavaliers on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Alaska Airlines Court. Thursday’s game will tip-off at 7 p.m., while Saturday is set for 1 p.m..

HOCKEY | 9-17-2, 9-12-1-1 WCHA
LAST WEEK: 1-1 | THIS WEEK: at #16 Bowling Green (Feb. 15-16)
The Alaska Nanooks hockey team split at home last weekend, falling 4-1 to in-state rival Alaska Anchorage on Friday before posting a 2-1 victory on Saturday. The Nanooks will hit the road for a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series this weekend, taking on the No. 16th-ranked Bowling Green Falcons on Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Slater Family Ice Arena in Bowling Green, Ohio. Puck-drop on Friday is scheduled for 3:37 p.m. Alaska time, while Saturday is set for 3:07 p.m. Alaska time.

RIFLE
LAST WEEK: Idle | THIS WEEK: at NCAA Qualifiers (Feb. 16)
The Alaska Nanooks rifle team will head to El Paso, Texas, this weekend, as they are set to compete in an NCAA qualifying event on Saturday, Feb. 16, hosted by the University of Texas at El Paso Miners. If all fares well for the Nanooks, Alaska will punch their ticket to the 2019 NCAA Rifle National Championships Mar. 8-9 in Morgantown, West Virginia, hosted by the West Virginia University Mountaineers.

NORDIC SKI
LAST WEEK: Idle | THIS WEEK: at the UAA Invite (Feb. 17-18)
The Alaska Nanooks men’s and women’s Nordic ski teams will be back in action this week, as they are set to compete in the 2019 University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational this Sunday, Feb. 17, and Monday, Feb. 18, at Kincaid Park in Anchorage. Sunday will feature a 10km mass-start, freestyle race, while Monday will consist of classic sprints.

Martinsson named WCHA Goaltender of the Month
Last week, the WCHA named junior goaltender Anton Martinsson the Goaltender of the Month for January. Martinsson collected a 4-3-1 mark throughout the first month of 2019 and ranked fourth among NCAA Division I goaltenders in save percentage with a .948. The Klippan, Sweden, native also led the WCHA in saves with 202 and ranked third in the nation in goals-against average at 1.59.

Four from women's basketball named to GNAC all-academic team
Last Thursday, the GNAC announced the 2019 GNAC women’s basketball all-academic team, which featured four from the Alaska Nanooks. Senior guard Emily Evans, junior forward Brittany Richards, junior guard Kylie Wallace and senior forward Marian Wamsley were all named to the team, with Wallace earning her second-straight honor, while Wamsley earned her third-straight.
