The Nanooks fell to Simon Fraser and No. 8 Western Washington last week, but after two weeks on the road, Alaska returns to the Alaska Airlines Court this week for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches. The Nooks host Western Oregon on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. before taking on the Concordia Cavaliers on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m.

The Alaska Nanooks hockey team makes their unofficial debut at the Carlson Center this weekend as the team hosts the Simon Fraser University hockey team in an exhibition contest on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 7:07 p.m.
Promotions: Family four-pack ticketing special (four general admission tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for $50), team poster signing following the game.
Nanooks of the Week
On Monday, the Alaska Nanooks sports information office declared sophomore outside hitter Lahra Weber (volleyball) and freshman defenseman Matthew Doran (ice hockey) the Sept. 24 selections for the Nanooks of the Week.
Lahra Weber (So. | OH | Berlin, Germany)
Last week, Weber combined for 19 kills, 13 digs, six block assists and one assist for the Nanooks in a pair of GNAC matches. Weber led her teammates in kills in Thursday’s loss at No. 8 Western Washington with 13 before chipping in six kills against Simon Fraser on Saturday.
Matthew Doran (Fr. | Defense | St. Louis, Mo.)
In Saturday’s Blue vs. Gold game, Alaska Nanooks hockey freshman defenseman Matthew Doran tallied a three-point night to lead the Gold team to a 4-0 victory over the Blue team. Doran collected two assists and one goal for a three-point night while also registering two shots on goal.
2018-2019 season tickets on sale
Season ticket packages for the upcoming Alaska Nanooks hockey, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games are now on sale at the Alaska Nanooks ticketing office located in the lobby of the Patty Center. The ticketing office is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m.–7 p.m. and Saturdays from noon-6 p.m. during weeks where hockey plays at home. Hockey season tickets are available for pickup this week at the Alaska Nanooks ticketing office and will be available for pickup at the Carlson Center will call window starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
