SWIMMING RESULTS
On Sunday, the Alaska Nanooks swim team concluded their three-day competition at the 69th annual Husky Invitational at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. At the time of Sunday’s recap, the results for the women’s 100-yard freestyle final race had yet to be posted but have since been updated.

Freshman Oda Bygdnes was the only Nanook to compete in the final race, posting a time of 52.82 to place 16th overall in the finals.

HOCKEY | 5-11-2 Overall, 3-8-1-1 WCHA
LAST WEEK: 1-1 at LSSU | THIS WEEK: at Alaska Anchorage (Dec. 8-9)
After earning a Western Collegiate Hockey Association split on the road at Lake Superior State last weekend, the Alaska Nanooks hockey team travels to 365 miles south to take on in-state rival Alaska Anchorage in a two-game conference series this Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Sullivan Arena. The series will count toward the league standings and also toward the Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup, where the Nanooks hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-six series. Puck-drop is slated for 7:07 p.m. AKST on both nights.

MEN’S BASKETBALL | 3-5 Overall, 1-1 GNAC
LAST WEEK: 1-1 | THIS WEEK: vs. Cal State Miramar (Dec. 9)
The Alaska Nanooks men’s basketball team fell to Alaska Anchorage on Tuesday of last week before bouncing back and defeating the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets on Saturday to earn their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory of the season. The Nooks have one game on the radar this week, as they host the California Miramar University Falcons in an exhibition matchup at the Alaska Airlines Court this Saturday, Dec. 9, at 5:15 p,m, AKST. The Nooks will resume conference play on Dec. 17 at Concordia.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL | 2-4 Overall, 0-2 GNAC
LAST WEEK: 0-2 | THIS WEEK: vs. Alaska Anchorage (Dec 9)
After dropping their first two conference contests at home last week, the Alaska Nanooks women’s basketball team will host one of the top teams in the country on Saturday, as they take on in-state rival Alaska Anchorage on Saturday, Dec. 9, in a GNAC matchup at the Alaska Airlines Court. Tip-off against the Seawolves is slated for 7:30 p.m. AKST.

Ravn Alaska Nanooks of the Week (Dec. 4)
On Monday, the Alaska Nanooks sports information office declared sophomore guard Lexi Carpenter (women’s basketball) and junior guard Davis Kimble (men’s basketball) the Dec. 9 selections for the female and male Ravn Alaska Nanooks of the Week, respectively, for the their performances on the court last weekend.

Lexi Carpenter (So. | Guard | Yakima, Washington)
In the opening weekend of conference play, Carpenter continues to be a consistent force for Alaska’s offense, as the Yakima, Washington native tallied 39 points throughout both GNAC contests last week, including a 32-point performance against Central Washington on Saturday for a single-game career-high. Carpenter shot 14-for-25 from the floor, 7-for-14 from three-point range and 4-for-5 from the free throw line while also chipping in eight rebounds, four assists and one steal combined against NNU and CWU.

Davis Kimble (Jr. | Guard | Hayward, California)
Kimble’s efforts throughout the first week of GNAC play helped the Nanooks earn a split against Alaska Anchorage and Montana State Billings for their first conference win of the season. Kimble tallied 27 points through both games, including 24 against MSUB alone. Kimble shot 12-for-23 from the floor, 1-for-6 from behind the arc and 2-for-5 from the free throw line through both contests. Kimble also chipped in eight assists, five rebounds and three steals throughout the week. Furthermore, in Alaska’s Saturday victory over MSUB, Kimble tallied two points, two steals and two rebounds in the last 1:24 alone to hold off the Yellowjackets comeback.

All men’s ice hockey games (home and away) can be heard live on ESPN 820 AM Fairbanks or at 820sports.com. Additionally, fans have the option to watch home games or away conference contests for a small fee at WCHA.tv.
