The Anchorage district office of University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will be open later hours and offer evening programs this summer to make programming more available to area residents.

The office at 1675 C St. will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the other weekdays, through Labor Day.

Starting June 10, Extension horticulturalist Julie Riley and master gardeners will offer nutrition and garden tips from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Residents are also invited to bring their pest problems, plant identification questions and other issues to a yard and garden clinic Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Individuals may bring their sewing projects to the Summer Open Sew from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, starting June 25. Special sewing classes begin July 9 and will continue through September.

See more information and a schedule at www.uaf.edu/ces/anchorage or call the Anchorage office at 786-6300. The Cooperative Extension Service is a national educational network supported by a partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and land-grant universities.
