The academy is a comprehensive leadership program for students in their first year at UAF. This yearlong program encompasses biweekly meetings to cover topics required for completing level one of the COLD certificate. There will be opportunities to attend conferences, workshops and participate in service work. This opportunity allows incoming students to make connections and grow their leadership skills. The program aims to help students explore who they are as leaders and how to influence change at UAF and beyond.

The First-Year Leadership Academy is designed to support, engage and educate future leaders in the UAF community. As a part of this program, students will be provided the opportunity to:

  • Enhance current and build new leadership skills

  • Learn the ins and outs of involvement at UAF

  • Complete all aspects of level one COLD certificate

  • Create a diverse and well-rounded network

There is a $500 scholarship associated with the successful completion of this program.
