The University of Alaska Fairbanks International Arctic Research Center Data Archive
has become part of a network that will help people find Arctic data more easily.
The Data Observation Network for Earth, funded by the National Science Foundation, is a
distributed network of data centers or science networks. DataONE provides cyberinfrastructure
that allows secure access to Earth observational data.
By joining the network, IARC is now able to allow a wider audience to find, from anywhere
in the world, data stored in the IARC Data Archive. The archive houses information
such as climate and vegetation data, aerial photos of Alaska glaciers, records from
past IARC summer schools and conference posters.
Wider access to the IARC Data Archive could also support policy development, as it
will allow public officials to integrate Arctic climate change data and information
into their decision-making.
