The annual Arctic Innovation Competition is accepting inventive ideas for the chance to win cash prizes.

The competition is sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management.

First place in the main division receives $10,000. Ideas may be submitted in one of three age groups: 18 and older, 13-17, and 12 and younger. Ideas do not have to be Arctic-based to be considered. This year there is a special “kicker” award for the best idea inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. Alaska time on Friday, March 19.

COVID-19 restrictions have changed the competition this year. The final competition will be a virtual event on Saturday, April 17. Finalists will not need to appear in person. Instead, finalists will work with the AIC team to present their ideas via an online platform. More details about the final competition event will be available at a later date.

To find out more information and submit an idea, visit the AIC website. If you have questions about the competition, contact AIC at 474-6518 or aic@arcticinno.com.
