The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation is seeking letters expressing interest in the scholarships it offers to junior-level students who plan careers in government or public service. Letters may be submitted through Jan. 20, 2017.

Truman scholars receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities and have special opportunities for internship and employment with the federal government.

For more information about eligibility and guidelines for UAF application, visit www.uaf.edu/truman/.

Letters of interest may be submitted by email between now and 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, to affitts@alaska.edu. Letters should be no longer than two pages and must describe:

  • Examples of your leadership.

  • Examples of your public service.

  • The graduate course of study you intend to pursue if you receive a Truman Scholarship.

Applicants selected as UAF candidates will be asked to complete a full foundation application packet by Feb. 7, 2017. Submitting your letter of interest early will allow more time for completing the full application.
