Audition to sing the national anthem for the Nanooks

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics would is holding open auditions for vocalists to sing the national anthem at sporting events during the 2013-14 season. Auditions will be held Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24 inside the gymnasium at the Patty Center.
Friday's auditions will run from 5 to 7 p.m. while Saturday's trial runs will go from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. On the day of auditions, please enter through the main entrance of the Patty Center and turn right toward the double doors into the gym.
Audition order is organized on a first come, first serve basis. The audition is open to the general public, for both individuals and groups. All participants in the audition will be notified by e-mail whether they have been invited to perform the national anthem for the Nanooks.
Things to remember during the audition:
- Please have the lyrics memorized
- Sing the anthem in a straight forward manner with utmost respect and honor for the what song represents
- Please keep in the mind the national anthem is about honoring America and the men and women who serve or have served our country to protect our freedom
If you are unable to make the live, in-person auditions, you may submit a video link through You Tube or an audio clip via e-mail to ekake@alaska.edu. All submitted clips must be received by Aug. 28 for consideration. It is, however, strongly suggested you attend the live auditions.
