August brown bag lunch session on phishing and online fraud

August 6, 2018

University Relations

Are you frequently caught by surprise by fraudulent emails? Maybe you pride yourself in passing OIT's phishing tests. Either way, learning more about phishing behavior could help you protect yourself and UAF.

On Aug. 20, OIT systems engineer Caleb Severn will present "Fried Phish: Bad for the Health of your Organization" in O'Neill 201. Bring your lunch and learn how scammers use emotion, etiquette, prejudice and technology to trick people. Learn how to prevent fraud in person, on the phone and over email. Have fun acting out attacks and joking about human social behaviors.

The session is from 12-1 p.m. and will be available via livestream and recording at media.uaf.edu; to find the video, log in and search for Fried Phish. A video conference link will be distributed via the Staff Council listserv and posted here.

The brown bag professional development sessions are sponsored by Staff Council. Download the flyer here.
