Live webinar shares report on barriers to women leaders
March 23, 2016
Join UAF colleagues for the launch of the American Association of University Women's
newest research report, "Barriers and Bias: The Status of Women in Leadership." A
live webinar featuring the event will be shared from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30,
in 219 Eielson Building.
A panel of experts from industry, politics and academia will gather at the Newseum
in Washington, D.C., to discuss the report. They'll look at what the findings mean
for women in leadership and how institutions, industries and our society as a whole
can benefit from more women leaders. Journalist and author Cokie Roberts will moderate.
The report explores why men vastly outnumber women in paid leadership positions. It
draws from scholarly research and pays special attention to stereotypes and biases.
The report provides recommendations for individuals, as well as those in the education,
corporate and political sectors, to contribute to an environment in which gender is
no longer a barrier to leadership.
