Research determining whether installing wave energy converters would be economically feasible in Yakutat won Baxter Bond third place at the 2019 American Indian Science and Engineering Society's annual national conference this month in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Bond’s research abstract, “The Economic and Energy Feasibility of Installing Wave Energy Converters in Yakutat, AK,” received third place in the graduate-level research oral presentations at the conference.

(Bond is a research professional with UAF's Alaska Center for Energy and Power. His category, "professional research presentations," was combined with the graduate-level category.)

The AISES National Conference is a three-day event focusing on educational, professional and workforce development for American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander and First Nation high school and college students, educators, professionals, tribal nations and tribal enterprises, universities, corporations, and government agencies.
