University Relations

Students are leaving UAF. Some are doing it because of the uncertainty spread by budget cuts, some because the university is not offering the necessary programs for their academic goals, but most are leaving because they are dissatisfied with the way the university is running.

This is a problem that may have begun with the budget cuts but I would argue that it began before that. I believe that it began when student health and welfare became secondary to pretentious motives and self-interests. I believe that in an effort to "improve" the university, UAF administrators, faculty, and staff left students behind. We are a small university with a community-styled campus. However, students are still left in the dark about the major decisions being made supposedly on their behalf, most of which are not well received.

Until UAF administration, faculty, and staff hold open, transparent, and accommodating discussions with a wide variety of UAF students before making ANY of their decisions, stop using "the students" as a scapegoat to push personal goals and narratives. We are here, talk to us, you might just like some of the ideas we have.
