Boiler maintenance work July 3-25

The boilers and turbines that provide heat and power to the Fairbanks campus will undergo an in-depth inspection and maintenance work July 3-25. The work, commonly called an overhaul, is similar to an annual wellness check, and includes preventive maintenance, repairs and updates. 

The work can only be done when the boilers and turbine are off and cooled down. During the overhaul, campus will rely on equipment in the Atkinson Plant and the connection to the Golden Valley Electric Association to provide heat and power to campus. During the overhaul period, Nanook Nation is asked to conserve energy across campus.
