Scott Jerome, interim athletics director for the University of Alaska Fairbanks, announced that Brice, Inc. has renewed its role as title sponsor of the Brice Alaska Goal Rush Division I men's ice hockey tournament, hosted by the Alaska Nanooks.

"We greatly appreciate Brice's generous commitment to the Alaska Goal Rush," said Jerome. "The Brice Alaska Goal Rush is one of the many things that make Fairbanks a great community for families.  It's great entertainment at a reasonable price."

Head coach Dallas Ferguson echoed Jerome's sentiments. "I would like to thank the Brice family for their continued support of the Brice Alaska Goal Rush,” he said. “Without the commitment of the Brice family as out title sponsor we would not be able to host such a great Division I hockey tournament in our community."

The agreement covers the 2012 tournament, which includes the Merrimack Warriors of Hockey East, the University of North Dakota and the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves both of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The field is arguably the strongest in the event's five-year history, with the Warriors and Fighting Sioux both finishing the 2011-12 campaign ranked in the top-20 teams in the country. Merrimack finished 17th, while the Sioux were 5th on the final USCHO.com Division I men's hockey poll.

"The Brice Alaska Goal Rush is a premier Division I college hockey tournament and we have a great group of teams coming to Fairbanks in the fall. This year's field will be the toughest we have had in the 5 years of hosting this event. Alaska Hockey fans and the community of Fairbanks are going to see great college hockey at the Carlson Center this October.”

Brice Companies is a family-owned small business headquartered in Fairbanks, Alaska with over 45 years of arctic experience. Brice performs heavy civil construction, environmental remediation, and marine services and provides quarried products through Browns Hill Quarry.

The Nanooks have won their annual tournament in two of the last four years, taking the title in 2009 and 2010, while their intrastate rival UAA took the crown in 2008 and 2011.

Individual tournament packages (separate from season tickets) will go on sale later this summer, with individual session tickets opening up in mid-September.
