Bristol Bay Campus building gets green certification
August 19, 2015
The U.S. Green Building Council has certified the Applied Sciences Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus in Dillingham.
The council gave the building a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificate, which confirms that it is environment-friendly, is healthy for occupants and uses low amounts of energy and water.
The LEED certification followed an extensive renovation that focused on energy efficiency to save money.
The center houses three applied science programs: sustainable energy, ecosystem health and nursing. The facility also serves as an educational tool for the UAF sustainable energy program, demonstrating how to cut energy use in buildings.
