Bristol Bay Campus Students of the Month for April 2021
April 1, 2021
The Bristol Bay Campus named two high schoolers as its Students of the Month for April
2021.
Nyssa Tallekpalek and Dion Pleasant are currently enrolled in the Home Energy Basics
class.
"The reason I am nominating both of these students is due to their commitment to excellence
and willingness in taking a huge leap of bravery," Eric Goddard said. Goddard is an
assistant professor of sustainable energy at BBC. "As high school students, their
commitment sets them apart from the crowd."
"There are many things I would like to do, see and experience," Nyssa Tallekpalek said. "My goal is to aim for a welding career once I graduate high school. Also, it is important for me to simply save energy now that I know the basics of energy through coursework at UAF's sustainable energy program."
Tallekpalek and Pleasant are gaining dual credit while working toward their sustainable energy occupational endorsement certificate through the Bristol Bay Regional Career and Technical Education Program.
"What I like to do is try my best at anything and everything. It is my goal to graduate high school and gain acceptance into college," Pleasant said. "My favorite pastime is hunting and excelling at life, no matter what. I will keep moving forward until my goals are complete and will not stop without success. Always stay on the right path."
