Bryan Uher has been selected as the new dean for the College of Rural and Community Development. He begins his new role effective July 4 and will serve under the supervision of Charlene Stern, interim vice chancellor of rural, community and Native education. 

“Uher possesses the background and skills necessary to serve as an effective dean for CRCD," Stern said. "We look forward to his leadership in helping us to grow our academic programs, community partnerships, and research capacity."  

Uher was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and was raised in Trapper Creek, located at mile 115 of the Parks Highway. He has over 20 years of experience working for the University of Alaska Fairbanks, having served in key leadership positions with the Interior Alaska Campus and the College of Rural and Community Development.

His career has focused on supporting rural communities and providing higher education across the state. Uher holds a master's in public administration from the University of Alaska Southeast, and both a bachelor of arts in rural development and an associate of applied science in applied business from UAF.
