UAF students age 18 and above can participate in a research project this semester on the psychology of space exploration.

Participants will be entered in a drawing for a single iPad in December.

The research project's title is "Bored out of this world?" It deals with personality characteristics that might be relevant when screening astronauts for the long-haul space missions, such as those to Mars. Participants will fill out three questionnaires online and meet in person with a researcher to do a simple experimental task and one more questionnaire. The experimental task does not require any preparation, knowledge or physical activity.

To participate, contact UAF student Aleksandra Milanovic at amilanovic@alaska.edu.

Dani Sheppard, associate professor of psychology, is overseeing the project. The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity provided funding. UAF's Institutional Review Board approved the work (project No. 941211-1). Participants with questions about their rights can contact the UAF Office of Research Integrity at 474-7800 (Fairbanks area) or 1-866-876-7800 (toll-free outside the Fairbanks area) or uaf-irb@alaska.edu.
