Calypso to discuss community-shared agriculture
February 22, 2016
Calypso Farm and Ecology Center will offer a discussion of small-scale diversified
farming and community shared agriculture from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in
the large conference room of the Lola Tilly Building.
Calypso is a nonprofit, educational farm based in Ester. It provides hands-on education
to Fairbanks schoolchildren and community members through educational programs. The
diversified farm operates as a community-shared agriculture operation to feed a number
of local families through the growing season. Its mission is to encourage local food
production and environmental awareness through hands-on education in natural and farming
ecosystems.
The event is sponsored by the Alaska Center for Energy and Power.
