New and returning UAF students, staff, and faculty are invited to visit the University of Alaska Museum of the North this semester.

Thanks to a local rate reduction that went into effect earlier this year, admission for UAF staff and faculty members is now $4. UA Museum of the North members and University of Alaska students receive free admission to the museum.

Museum director Aldona Jonaitis said the museum is committed to providing a quality experience to all visitors, especially the campus community. "The museum is one of UAF's great treasures, and we hope our special admission discount for faculty and staff, as well as free admission for students, will inspire many members of this community to come and explore."

UAMN is the only research and teaching museum in the state. Opportunities to participate in collections-based activities are available in ten different disciplines:  aquatics, archaeology, botany, earth sciences, entomology, ethnology & history, fine arts, mammalogy, and ornithology. Students can earn credits through the Museum Research Apprenticeship program.
