The University of Alaska Fairbanks will test its emergency notification system on
Tuesday, Sept. 15. At some point during the day, UAF employees and students will receive
one or more test messages. Visitors to campus may also see or hear test messages.
All test messages will clearly note that they are part of the emergency notification
test.
The test messages will come in a variety of ways:
• Pop-up messages on university computers
• Calls or voice mail messages on campus telephones
• Announcements on loudspeakers
• Messages on television screens in public areas
• Messages on yellow Alertus emergency beacons
• Emails
When you receive the messages, make note of when, where and how you received them.
The messages will also ask you to complete a survey about how you received information
during the test. Please take a moment to complete the survey, as it helps improve
the university's emergency notification system.
