Celebrate Constitution Day on Sept. 17

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join UAF's observation of Constitution Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020. A series of events have been planned to commemorate the 233rd anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.

Voter registration and voter information will be available in the Wood Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A live panel discussion on the Constitution's role in ensuring and protecting diversity, equity and inclusion will be broadcast from 1-2 p.m. at media.uaf.edu. The panel will feature faculty members Rob Duke and Pat Sekaquaptekwa and Vice Chancellor Keith Champagne. Alex Hirsch will moderate. Questions may be submitted in advance via Google Form.

The Nanook Diversity and Action Center will host a free speech and student activism workshop from 2-2:45 p.m. via Zoom. Advance registration is required.

The United States Constitution was signed in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787. Constitution Day was established as a federal holiday in 2004.
