Center Ice Seed Fund award supports power-generation project
June 23, 2020
Maher Al-Badri, an assistant professor in the College of Engineering and Mines, has
received a University of Alaska Community Consulting Program award through the Center ICE Seed Fund. Al-Badri is investigating a patent for a new motor or generator technology that
may be beneficial for low- and variable-speed power generation in applications such
as hydrokinetic or wind power.
The UA Community Consulting Program provides a way for the community to access experts
at the university for short-term projects that may identify more significant innovation
and commercialization opportunities for the community or the university.
The seed fund is designed to boost commercialization success, entrepreneurialism and
innovation at the University of Alaska and throughout the state. The fund invests
directly in people, technologies and commercialization efforts.
The CISF remains open for additional applications through the summer. For more information,
