Chancellor Brian Rogers offered his thoughts on the death of student Scott Austin via the following email to the UAF community on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014:

"Yesterday morning, we abruptly lost one of our students. Scott Austin, a 48-year-old petroleum engineering student and Air Force veteran, was found dead in the parking lot behind the Reichardt Building. Police are still investigating the incident, however foul play is not suspected at this time.
