Check out drones in the library — literally

Drones are fun to watch, but even more fun to fly. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 30, people can check out drones at the Keith B. Mather Library, much like a library book. Drones will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.

UAF's Alaska Center for UAS Integration has set up a drone racing course in the basement of the Mather Library, where UAF students, faculty and staff can check out a “tiny whoop” drone to fly in the netted-off course. Before checking out the drones, all participants must watch a short training video on drone operation and safety. After that, they can check the drones out with their UAF PolarExpress card.
