Chien-Lu Ping on sabbatical in Taiwan

Chien-Lu Ping,
School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences professor, will be on sabbatical from September – February at I-Shou University in
Kaohsiung, Taiwan. While there he will work with the faculty in the Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering, studying coastal wetlands and developing a curriculum
in environmental soil science for the engineering major. He will also help host a
workshop on landslide and mudflow involving experts in geological hazards from mainland
China and Taiwan. Ping plans to return to Alaska in time to teach his popular Summer
Sessions course on permafrost in 2012.
