The Association of Interior Alaska Native Educators is seeking participants for a
free academy to be held in Fairbanks this June.
The academy, called Signs of the Land II, is for people who are interested in learning
more about climate change and traditional Alaska Native knowledge. It will be held
at the Howard Luke Gaalee'ya Camp, June 14-17, 2016.
The academy targets Alaska Native adults including educators, leaders, planners, resource
managers and community members. Participants must register online at www.ainealaska.org. Travel assistance is available. The deadline for travel assistance requests is May
18, 2016.
The goals of the camp are to increase knowledge about climate change and impacts to
Alaska, provide tools for planning and making decisions, and for participants to share
what they learn about climate change with others.
The Signs of the Land II Academy is a collaborative project developed by AINE and
the International Arctic Research Center. It is part of the Polar Learning and Responding
to Climate Change Education Partnership sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
