Nanook Recreation graphicThe Student Recreation Center will be closed Dec. 10-Jan. 10 to replace all court and track surfaces. The new court surface will be thicker and have more compression. The track surface will be a high-quality indoor track surface. Bold colors and new striping will allow for greater flexibility in sport locations. The Patty ice arena, the Patty pool and Outdoor Adventures will remain open. Detailed pool, ice and Patty gym schedules will be published soon.

As a result of the new student fees implemented this semester, the overall rate structure has been adjusted. While this includes some increases, there are many other tweaks to make the membership options more attractive. The old “LIFE” membership is being retired and a new "Mornings" membership is available. This will allow you access before 1 p.m. any day of the week. Finally, if you only want shower, pool and sauna access, we have that membership available, too.

The newly priced annual membership for UAF faculty or staff is still only about $35/month! This full membership provides complete access to the 55,000-square-foot SRC as well as access to ice skating and swimming, group fitness classes, a cycling studio, indoor rock wall climbing and more.

If you have not been to the SRC lately, come check it out. We have increased staff at the front desk and climbing wall, and have added many new pieces of cardio equipment, including virtual reality bikes and large-display treadmills. The weight room has been modernized and instructional classes have been increased. Additionally, the climbing wall now has autobelay devices. Let us help you focus on your wellness in 2019!

Stay tuned for a "West Ridge Fitness Center" expansion coming in spring semester.
