Crews are working hard to wrap up a number of construction projects on the Fairbanks campus.

UPDATE: Yukon Drive and west Tanana Loop — Rainy conditions have disrupted the Yukon Drive work schedule. The closure of the uphill lane of west Tanana Loop, on the hill below the Butrovich Building, is now tentatively set for Thursday, Aug. 9, depending on the weather.

To get to West Ridge from Thompson Drive, go east on Tanana Loop past the Rasmuson Library. Turn left onto Yukon Drive, right on Kuskokwim (just past the Moore-Bartlett-Skarland Complex), left on north Tanana Loop and left on Sheenjek.

Yukon Drive remains closed from Sheenjek Drive to the museum. The area will be very congested with work that includes asphalt removal, concrete curb and gutter installation, and road paving. Though long, the detour will allow the contractor to complete work before school starts.

This project is expected to be largely completed by Aug. 16.

South Chandalar — South Chandalar near Wickersham Hall will be closed Saturday, Aug. 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to repair the asphalt. Instead of the Chapman-area parking lots (4H and 4J), use the Eielson parking lot (3B), the lower dorms lot near Lola Tilly (4A) or the Signers’ Hall lot (3A).

Ballaine parking lot (8A) — The lot should be fully paved and open by Aug. 24. A production slowdown in paving materials delayed completion of this project.

Eielson/Gruening/Wood Center ramp and sidewalks — Work continues on the trench drain between Wood Center and Gruening but should be completed by the morning of Monday, Aug. 6. The ramp and sidewalk between Eielson and Gruening will be closed Monday and possibly Tuesday, contingent upon rain.

Campuswide office refurbishing — Some rooms and corridors in Bunnell, Chapman, Gruening and Reichardt are being painted and recarpeted. OIT will reconnect podiums in the smart classrooms as each room is finished. The work should be done by Aug. 26.
