The UAF College of Natural Science and Mathematics recently received an initial gift of $30,000 for the geology program in the Department of Geosciences. The gift will dramatically enhance undergraduate students’ educational opportunities.

Created by Charles M. and Geraldine V. Collins, the gift — as part of an ongoing endowment with yearly contributions — is intended to strengthen the program's ability to support undergraduate students and to help them embark on successful careers.

“The college is deeply grateful to these generous philanthropists for providing funding to geology students across the educational spectrum,” said CNSM Interim Dean Leah Berman.

The Collinses’ own experiences with the university contributed to their motivation to express their deep gratitude to the school and specifically the Department of Geosciences.
